Campus Pulse Offers Safety and Security Insights for School Reopening

Austin, TX – September 01, 2020—Degree Analytics, developers of the EnGauge Platform and Campus Pulse, announced today that it will be delivering it’s platform and software application to support Millersville University with fall reopening and data analytics. Degree Analytics provides administrators with visibility into student presence on campus, facility mapping to support physical distancing protocols and contact or contamination tracing to identify spaces exposed to COVID-19. All of these measures will aid Millersville University with operational models providing appropriate safety and security alerts aligned to health guidance.

The new tool is part of Millersville’s network support. “This partnership has aided not only in our continued efforts to build a more effective campus and student support system, but it is also in line with safety measures for a safe return to campus during Covid-19,” says Steve diFilipo, Chief Technology Officer at Millersville.

There is no need to sign up or download an app. Campus Pulse uses data captured in the wireless network system. When a person authenticates onto Marauder’s Wi-Fi system, Campus Pulse links the device to the person logging on.

“As campus reopens this fall, using this data will help us make strategic decisions around our community’s health and safety,” says diFilipo. “Regardless of what model we use, there will still be some level of student and faculty presence on campus that we need to ensure we are doing our part to keep them safe and serve them as best we can.’ Partnering with Degree Analytics will enable us to track where people gather, provide alerts when we are at capacity, and make informed decisions regarding facility management. We are eager to engage in this partnership.”

“Every university has already invested in wireless infrastructure,” said Aaron Benz, Chief Executive Officer at Degree Analytics. “Before COVID‐19, the system was already developed to help understand what students are doing on campus in order to improve their experience. What we’re focused on at Degree Analytics is really providing the right data to the right person at the right time,” Benz said. “Right now, safety is really important. But beyond COVID‐19, what it takes to graduate students is key information. And student satisfaction is critical.”
